For me, it lived up to the hype, and it's worth going through the long line in the ticket booth to see it. And one more thing, this film certainly isn't for kids.

Ledger's (God Bless His Soul) performance as The Joker was outstanding, it's no wonder he got nominated for an Oscar. Though I'm not very sure if he'll win it. But either way, it's a memorable role for him.

Compared to Jack Nicholson's Joker, well, there really isn't anything to compare with, since Jack's Joker takes a more comical approach. It's not that his portrayal is inferior to Heath's, it's just "different".
